Here is a checklist of the first things to do:
On Site SEO
- Use Google's keyword tool to research the most popular keywords for your site
- Register a domain for at least 5 years upfront as Google will take the site more seriously

- Have an onsite blog and update it as often as possible
- Follow guidelines from a well known SEO source such as Planet Ocean. They will keep you updated with the latest changes.
- Write Blogs with original content, Use Blogger, Wordpress, etc..
- Submit your site to all local business directories
- After that submit to Google places
- Learn about social Media and set yourself up with company pages on Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Youtube, Linked in and others.
- Create and upload Videos to your Youtube account
- Find ways to attract related quality links to your site
- Send 50+ High PR social media bookmarks to each of your Blogs and Citations, Use fiverr to help with that. Keep adding fresh ones each month
